We use Military-Level Data Protection
- Before any of your data starts to leave your computer it is encrypted using the 256 bit (highest version) Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). All of your data is stored on multiple servers in its encrypted form in high security facilities.
- In addition, your data is encrypted again using Secure Socket Layers (SSL) to communicate from your computer to the backup servers.
- Your data is stored in state-of-the-art file servers in two high security data centers which are located thousands of miles apart. Every file is stored in both locations. At each of these locations, access is biometrically controlled. Additionally, we have 24/7 monitoring, redundant Internet connections, and backup generators.
- The primary reason to backup is to ensure your files are safe in the event your computer had a mechanical or electrical malfunction, your data was destroyed inadvertently or deliberately, or you need to retrieve a deleted file.
- Using our HITman Safe, your files are available whenever you need them. And restoring them can be accomplished quickly.
- You have the ability to restore what files you want, when you want them and as often as you want them. You have the power to restore file revisions, individual files, folders, or the entire backup data set. Whether you experience a catastrophic system failure, or realize a critical file was accidentally deleted, you can be back in business at speeds much faster than other products on the market.
- To increase the speed and reduce the network traffic on your system, we use a block-level backup. This means only changes at the block level are backed up. This is a significant improvement over other backup methods as it costs you less to get the data to the server. This also minimizes the storage costs.
Microsoft Exchange Support
- Our system was specifically designed to manage backups, storage and restoration of Microsoft Exchange files. Because data in Microsoft Exchange does not behave the same as documents or other types of files, many online backup system do not handle Exchange files properly.
- We can backup not only the server, but all Exchange information from everyone’s computer in the entire Exchange database. You choose which mailboxes you want backup along with which folders you want included. You are in control of how much data is safe-guarded and the amount of time your backups are kept.
- You even have the power to exclude messages based on the subject so you don’t waste valuable space on junk or unimportant documents.
- If at any time you require a snapshot of a point-in-time document, all you need to do is simply restore the file from that moment. The Exchange Store makes it that easy.
- Regulatory compliance is simplified because you determine which messages are retained, how long they are saved, and what happens with them when the time has passed. Recovering the archived messages is handled by the point-in-time restorations.
Continuous Data Protection (CDP)
- Many people have documents which change many time throughout the day. For those with that need we can automatically backup changes every 15 minutes. And because we are only backing up the changes you don’t have to worry about exorbitant costs or your Internet connection coming to a crawl. This along with our extensive revision rule options keeps all the changes to your documents save and secure for both the short and long term.
Local Repository
- For businesses and people who can’t afford to be down, we can also store backup files locally for an almost-instant and on-demand restoration of your data. We can use Network Accessible Storage (NAS) devices, DVD’s or shared drives, the options are all yours.
Mapped Drive Support
- Do you need or want to backup multiple PCs from one computer? And using this method there is no additional charge for extra computers. Simply map the folders you want to backup.
Flexibility in Scheduling
- You have complete control over your scheduling. You can create multiple backup sets to run at any time and/or frequency you require. We also provide default settings for ease-of-use.
Activity Logs
- We provide you with reports (if you want them). These reports can include successful backups and failures. Our activity logs are so complete they can be used for compliance purposes as well as tracking the times when the files were actually backed up.
Bandwidth Throttling
- Our backups take place in the background, while your system is doing other work. The bandwidth throttling feature of our system means that regardless of how large your backups are they will never cause congestion on your network or prevent you from completing other tasks. We make backups quick, efficient, and easy.
System State Backups
- Our backup system provides you with the ability to automatically or manually create backups of your computer’s system state for point-in-time restorations. The items we include are: the registry, system files, boot files, SYSVOL, Active Directory, Cluster service information, the IIS Metadirectory, and the certificate services database. These files ensure that your point-in-time recovery is as complete and accurate as possible.
Volume Shadow Copy
- By using Volume Shadow Copies which provides a snapshot of any drive which can be referenced for backup, we can even locked files to be securely backed up and available to the file owner for restoration.
HIPAA Compliance
- About HIPAA: In 1996, Congress passed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA"). HIPAA was designed to reduce the administrative costs of healthcare, to promote the confidentiality and portability of patient records, to develop standards for consistency in the health care industry, and to provide an incentive for electronic communications.
- HIPAA applies to any health care providers, health plans and clearinghouses (collectively "Covered Entities") that electronically maintain or transmit health information pertaining to individuals. Covered Entities must have appropriate measures that address the physical, technical and administrative components of patient data privacy.
- With the exception of small health plans, all Covered Entities must have data security standards in place by April 21, 2005. Small health plans are exempted until April 21, 2006.
- HITman Safe helps your health organization meet HIPAA compliance requirements:
- All data, including patient and billing records are encrypted before they leave your computers and are never accessible without your encryption key. In addition, data transfers over the Internet are encrypted using SSL technology.
- Encrypted data is stored in state-of-the-art redundant data centers.
- Backups and restores are automated, eliminating the need for manual data handling.
- Detailed logs store information of each file backed up and restored, creating audit trails.
