Is a Web Beacon reporting on your email?

A Web Beacon is an image which gets embedded into an email. When you open the email, the Web Beacon reports back to the person or company sending the email that it has been read.

Web Beacons can also report if the email was forwarded to someone else. They also have the ability to send your IP (Internet Protocol) address along with time and date information.

If you are using a newer version of Microsoft Outlook and did not modify the security settings, you should be OK.
