On February 26th, a bug in Facebook’s update sent private messages intended for one person to strangers. This is just the latest in concerns over privacy.

The safest method to correspond with people over the Internet is with a private email account.

With free or public email accounts the security is generally not nearly as good. In addition, many free email companies review email messages in order to provide “appropriate” advertising to the account holder.
